OAVs
Cover art for the OAVs
The OAVs were made after the game and they tell a much shortened, slightly changed version of the story. They retain the music and voice acting of the game though the art is slightly changed and it must be said that the animation and anatomy is a bit dodgy at times. It can also be said that the OAV goes for a little more melodrama than the game.
OAV 1
The first OAV opens with a scene that was mentioned but never shown in the game, the scene of Myuca, disguised as a girl and in the company of Guildias calling out to Guys when he passes them on the street. From there it skips forward to the medical inspection with Durer which is much the same as in the game. It then flashes back to the day of Guys’ arrest which is likewise pretty similar to the game. We are then brought back to seemingly the present, Guys being shown around the prison by Io (who hasn’t changed much). He leads Guys into Jose’s trap as expected (Jose looks pretty different) and so begins the gang rape scene, shown in much more detail than in the game. The scene then flashes back to Guys being sentenced.
Afterward, Guys wakes up naked on a bed in the medical room, being treated by Vallewida and Evan. The first meeting with Lusca is much the same although he implies that he is only going to visit Guys a few times. Next is a scene in the prison courtyard where Shion and Belbet (blonde and a lot cleaner-looking) make silent cameos as participants in a card game with Evan and Vallewida. Evan comes over and gives the deject Guys some chocolate, Guys complains to him about Lusca and asks him to read a letter his family wrote to him (Guys is apparently illiterate in the oav). Afterward Guys is shown meeting with Lusca for the second time and telling him about Evan. This somehow makes Lusca remember that the body of the murder victim was bludgeoned (an important fact?) and he goes off leaving Guys mid-sentence. Next we see a rather melodramatic scene of Lusca in a horse carriage reading Evan’s letter which tells him to “Not forget the truth.”
Following that is Guys being taken to meet Guildias in some fancy room in the prison. Guildias greets Guys telling him he was very happy Guys wasn’t executed. Guys’ response is to attempt to hit Guildias but he is easily overpowered. Guildias then forces him to obey by threatening his friends saying, “I have all the power in this prison.” Of course next we have a version of the bell and toy Guildias scene with Guildias mumbling Myuca’s name at the end. Lastly is the scene with a despondent monologue from Guys as he works making shoes, we learn that he’s only been in the prison one month. He sees a duck flying over the prison walls and being shot down and the OAV ends with a shot of his shocked face.
OAV 2
OAV 2 opens with Guys having a nightmare where everyone believes he is a murderer and Guildias tells him he will never get out of prison. Sequential to that is his third meeting with Lusca where we learn that Lusca has gathered bundles of evidence since they last met and Myuca’s name is brought up. Lusca gives Guys a bible with information about the case hidden inside, the subsequent scene is Evan reading this with Guys and discovering the evidence about the corpse’s damp back. Jose overhears them and recognises the name Jared. Evan reads a letter by Lusca telling Guys about the people he talked to about Jared and Guildias (though he never mentions his suspicions beforehand) and his discovery of the paperweight and knife. Next is Guys talking to Vallewida about the differences in the wound size and knife size. Vallewida tells Guys that he believes Guys is innocent and informs him that most of the people in the prison are, having been imprisoned by Bollanet who he describes as “The source of evil in the country.”
Durer then shows up at Vallewida’s cell and takes him away while Guys hides under the bed. We see Durer torturing Vallewida trying to find the location of a hidden object which Vallewida doesn’t remember stealing. We also learn that Vallewida doesn’t remember what happened in his past. Durer doesn’t take this as an answer and whips Vallewida viciously while forcing him to wear a dress. After a while Vallewida enters ghost mode and we see a shadowy flashback of him being raped. He performs fellatio on Durer after which Durer enquires about that item once again. Vallewida still doesn’t seem to remember. In the following scene where Guys is treating his wounds, Vallewida tells Guys what happened to him in the military which he just remembered after Durer’s beating. The events are changed from the game with Ellis being cut out altogether along with the mentions of desertion. The events were: Vallewida heard about a conspiracy involving Bollanet who was head officer, said conspiracy was about the wheat, Vallewida stole documents to report him, was caught, betrayed by his comrades, forced to dress as a woman, raped everyday, charged on false grounds and sent to the prison. Vallewida says that he still has the document hidden but shock has made him forget where. The supervening scene is the Guys/Jose sex scene and the acquiring of Jared’s notebook.
At the retrial all the evidence is presented along with Vallewida’s help about the knife wound which is shown in a flashback. Lusca cites the fact that Guildias is an excellent officer (?) and convicted Guys over just a bloody knife to be further evidence in his conviction. He also states that Jose was Jared’s assistant and the notebook was given directly to him. The retrial ends quite cringily with Lusca thanking all of Guys friends and the audience applauding. After the trial we see Guys and Lusca kissing and Guys states that he now believes in god(?) Lusca notices a crucifix on Guys’ neck that was given to him by Vallewida, examines it and finds Bollanet’s document. Later we see police surrounding Guildias’ house and Guildias shooting himself while sitting over Myuca’s body after remembering strangling Myuca that day he saw Guys on the street. Later Guys states that it has been a year since he left prison, Bollanet is now jailed and all the prisoners who was falsely convicted have been released (this includes Io, Jose, Shion, Belbet, Evan and Vallewida.) The epilogue is shown on the credits where we see Shion working as a cook, Belbet as an actor, Io as a fabric person?, Jose as a private detective, Evan as a journalist, Vallewida as a painter and Guys as a grocery store worker.
